Eliminate to excel — my encounter with the beauty of less!

I travel through time,
Future becomes my present
The present becomes my past.
Stepping on new horizons
Carrying past accolades
New Sun = greater possibilities
New Sun = greater responsibilities.
Scrape and scrape and scrape the time
Fight tooth to nail
Climb girl, climb, ladders of unseen success
Exhausted every day?
Stressed every day?
Fighting every day?
Has your happiness ever mattered?
This must stop!!!
Hi there! I was recently struck by magic. It wasn’t a discovery for me. I have had such incidences before. During the sweet believing ages of teenage, when my heart was open to exploring.
The hard-hitting reality, money-making, and career-progression made me immune to magic for some time. I arrived in a new country, to work on a new project and was immersed in the daily, the mundane, and the long to-do list! But somehow, my heart opened to the universe again, and magic happened.
How do you ask? — Well, I read a book! Boring? Ummm… Not so much. Because what I read, struck all the right chords in my brain. But that’s not magical! Still boring, I just read a book and I like it! 📚
Wait! Wait! But what happened after?
Later I felt a force pushing me towards implementing what I read. I noticed things that propelled me into believing in the power of the concepts presented in the book. Although it was always in front of me, I hadn’t noticed it before. All it took was opening up. 😄
This is what I call magic, and it’s as pure as it comes… Your sense of intense desire to do something coupled by the force of nature which pushes you towards it, resulting in magical success, or my case, transformation!!!
There are two books here that I would like to mention. First is ‘Joy at Work’ by Marie Kondo and the second is ‘4-hour week’ by Tim Ferris. These books entered my life at the time I was overwhelmed with work at my new position. Both of them taught me one very important thing, which was this…
ELIMINATION WAS THE FIRST STEP TO EXCEL!!!
So the concept highlighted in bold here didn’t strike me as particularly transformative or life-changing. But then I was shown the power and applicability of it which was remarkable! 😃
🌹 Incidence 1: A snippet of the Danish Garden 🌹

The garden outside my house has several rose plants. And I love and adore them. So it happened like this. One fine danish summer evening, I was mowing the lawn, and I noticed something on the ground 🌱. A little rose plant!!! 😍. I was ecstatic. It filled me with joy. Being a true fan of roses, I could never hurt those little plants that were just putting their heads up in this big bad corona filled world.
It was a sign of life, of hope, of normality. It was a sign for me that at least something in the world is blooming and flourishing.
While I was stooped on the ground gently observing those little bundles of joys, my landlord tells me to make sure I cut every one of them!!! Why!!!! Why not? He told me if I didn’t cut them down, they will grow like a weed in the garden and by the next summer, we will be living in a jungle of roses. Now, wait a minute! Living in a jungle of roses? However great that idea sounds to me, isn’t it a bit extreme to think that poor little adorable rose plant can become a weed !?
Guess what, he is right! Not with the fact that we will live in a jungle of roses, but even if something seems amazing at the moment, it should fit into the grand scheme of things to be of value. The little rose plant was indeed a hindrance to the big luscious lawn. Should it have been allowed to grow, we would have lost the beauty of the lawn.
💻📺 Incidence 2: Youtube !!! 📺💻
Being a millennial, I do the same things as millennials do! I watch Netflix and I follow influencers on Youtube. Justine Leconte is one of my favorites on Youtube. She is smart, insightful, and makes amazing videos! I like her not just for the fashion advice, but also for her ideas on ethics and work-life. A week ago, she uploads this video,
Guess what! She mentions the book I read! ‘Joy at work’ by Marie Kondo!!! How strange that I get reminded of this weeks after reading it. Maybe I am hallucinating? But there is some weight to the idea of de-cluttering!!! So this is my hypothesis to be less overwhelmed every day and to get more out of life…
Hypothesis ❗️❗️❗
A person accumulates material possessions, obligations related to work, family, and friends knowingly, unknowingly, due to societal pressure or other unforeseen reasons. These accumulations clutter our life and hinder progress. They take up crucial mental and physical space in our lives. Hence, one should be careful of what is given importance, what takes precedence, and what should be thrown out.
Marie Kondo in her book also suggests starting to declutter your physical space and eventually going to the non-physical realm. If you want more information on how to declutter the physical space, fret not! If you don’t want to read the book, just watch the following….
YES! This popped up on my Netflix suggestions after I read the book!!!
I have started implementing the concepts actively. My closet looks tidy and the house looks clean! I set my priorities straight and clear and reduced the pressure to be more, do more, and gain more. All while asking the question,
Does this spark joy? ✨
Will I feel happy doing this thing? 😕 😏
Will I be satisfied after buying this thing? 👗 👡 🐧
It is not although, a sudden bed of roses. It will take some time to bring things into a habit. Until then,
